This paste will dry out the affected spot within a few hours. You can also bathe in a cold shower with oatmeal and cornstarch. Add 3 tablespoons of cornstarch and 6 tablespoons of oatmeal for a bath and soak for about 15 to 30 minutes.
Sodium bicarbonate is alkaline and will neutralize the hive. Magnesia milk can also be used for reducing the acidic nature of this condition. Magnesia milk can be applied to the spot with a cotton ball. It can work on any skin rash and will provide almost instant relief from itching.
Lots of freshly picked herbs work well in soothing out the symptoms linked to hives. Jewel weed can be gently rubbed onto the affected area after properly crushing it. Amaranth seeds tea is easy to prepare and can immediately relieve you from conditions such as itching and hives. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of amaranth seeds to 3 cups of boiling water and steep for about 20 minutes. Try adding a bit of jewel weed to the preparation. If the hive is causing a lot of pain and itching then you can use jewel weed & tea to make a poultice which can be directly applied to the skin. You can even pour this into your bath water. Though this not the actual way to treat hives but this can target the root cause of this condition which is stress. But usually there is an urgent requirement to soothe out the burning and itching sensation which is usually unbearable. The essential oils of chamomile, lavender and peppermint are all natural remedy to get rid of hives. Lavender is known to reduce inflammation and chamomile can be used to sooth the itching. You can combine chamomile or lavender oil, peppermint oil, baking soda and water to make a topical paste.
